I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding the ongoing issue of drug use along Sandbach Footpath 46, which runs between Foundry Lane and Station Road.
Last week, while walking with my wife and young child, we encountered a group of 8 to 9 men of various ages openly smoking what appeared to be cannabis. This situation was not only intimidating, particularly if my wife had been walking alone with our child, but it also raises significant concerns about the safety and well-being of families and individuals who regularly use this path.
The footpath itself is poorly lit at night, which seems to attract groups engaging in such activities. This combination of open drug use and inadequate lighting creates an environment that feels unsafe for residents, especially children.
I strongly urge the council to take immediate action to address this issue. Potential measures could include increased police patrols, improved lighting along the footpath, and any other steps that could help deter such activities and make the area safer for the community.
