Poor

Deprivation stats of the Barking & Dagenham, 62.4% of households are poor!

We are living in Barking where over 60% of households are poor and deprived of normal needs that are required to continue life. The inflation rates rising cause the cuts to local government funding to be less according to official statements but the elections and the promises given in elections are always forgotten. The council should prioritize looking after residents and providing better services for the vulnerable in need of care along with parents on low income to change the future of our young population. The way services are being provided requires transformation as we see it is no longer working. I see residents suffer in council properties, get neglected and live in worsened conditions and it only keeps declining. Employment, education, health & disability and housing services need loads of reform in our council. We have households with 16-18-year-olds neither in education nor in employment. The number of people living in shared properties increased hugely and some dwellings have no central heating in 2022. The recession and cost of living crises don't make things easier and urgently some action needs to be taken.
